The right contact makes all the difference
C.u.W. Keller GmbH & Co. KG serves several industries with gears of various sizes and gearboxes up to 300 tons in weight. Furthermore, Keller offers all kinds of services: repairs, modifications and upgrades but also replacement gears regardless of the brand of the gearbox in question. Keller’s biggest customer sector varies each year, depending largely on the global megatrends in the various industries and the individual companies’ investment plans.
Almost all production steps to serve the world’s cement, sugar processing, steel or rubber tyre industries, surface mining as well as the shipping industry with innovative custom-made gearboxes are accomplished in-house at the company’s plant in Troisdorf, Germany. For bevel gear sets, though, Keller has learned to trust ATA Gears.
Flexibility is king
“In the same way as we want to say we can do almost anything by ourselves, ATA can produce any kind of bevel gear to back up our operation – that is any topography, and not only the Klingelnberg type,” explains Ralf Woellert, Sales Director of C.u.W. Keller. “Durability, availability, safety – for sure, all those aspects are crucial. But for us and our customers what matters most is flexibility,” Ralf Woellert underlines. During the cooperation between C.u.W. Keller and ATA Gears, which has already lasted for more than 20 years, many kinds of requirements have been made and many types of bevel gears have been produced to the satisfaction of Keller and its customers. And C.u.W. Keller’s faith in ATA is firm. As Ralf Woellert describes it in his direct way: “We see ATA Gears not only as a leading company of bevel gears in Europe but as the leading one.”
The better the contact…
The better the design and the quality of the tooth contact pattern the more torque can be transferred via the gears. That’s a very familiar equation for everybody involved in mechanical power transmission. Ralf Wollert describes the cooperation between the Keller company and ATA Gears in a very similar manner. “The great advantage of ATA is that we at Keller can always be sure of a good and fast response,” he says. “As a one-off manufacturer of heavier and larger gearboxes – and that is definitely not mass production – we cannot take any risks with quality or delivery times, and ATA have always been able to meet the challenge,” Ralf Woellert explains his point and concludes: “We have been very well taken care of by their target-oriented contact person.”
