Expansion of the Linnainmaa factory supports ATA Gears’ growth and streamlines production

Construction work on ATA Gears’ factory expansion on Hautalankatu in the Linnainmaa area of Tampere has begun, and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. When operational, this new facility will serve both as the company’s new headquarters and as a more versatile production plant. Through this major expansion project, the company aims to achieve improvements in manufacturing capacity, productivity, and environmental performance.

“This expansion will enable us to centralize most stages of component manufacturing at a single location, while also increasing our overall capacity. Automation will allow us to make more efficient use of nights and weekends,” says Petri Rantamaa, CEO of ATA Gears.

ATA Gears’ long-established Atala factory will for the time being continue to operate as a production unit alongside the expanding Hautalankatu facility.

Significant investments in machinery

ATA’s growth outlook is strong, and the company is investing in its personnel and gear manufacturing capabilities. The expansion of the facility on Hautalankatu includes €17 million worth of investments in machinery and equipment — covering automation for both production and logistics management, as well as high-quality machining centers. The capacity of the heat treatment facility will also be increased.

A leading supplier of bevel gears

Gears and other power transmission components designed and manufactured by ATA are used worldwide, for example in the marine, mining, and process industries. The company is a global market leader in its field, and its most important export markets include Japan, Germany, and the United States. In 2025, ATA Gears reported revenue of €40.4 million, and profitability was strong.
